General Guidelines
Parking
Please park on the east side of the building. The first row of parking spaces is reserved for teachers that need to unload a lot of supplies as well as expectant mothers and mothers with infants. All parking spaces in the front are for church staff only, and no cars should be parked on the west side of the building. If you need to use the handicapped parking in the front of the building, please do so. If you arrive before the staff unlocks the front doors, you may send kids in through the café doors to open the front doors from the inside.
Signing In
The building will be unlocked for our arrival no later than 8:45. Enter through the café side door only. All other doors are not to be used except in an emergency. The sign-in/out sheets are located on the information table right inside the door. Names will be listed alphabetically in two binders. Please make sure that you sign in and out each time you enter and leave the building by writing down the time so that we know who is in the building when. You also need to sign your children in and out, including infants and toddlers. It is important that we have an accurate record in case of an emergency.
If you leave your children in the building, make sure that there is another adult in the building who is responsible for them. Write that person’s name and your cell phone number on the sign-out sheet before you leave. Teens must have their parent’s permission to leave the building without them and must sign themselves out.
Visitors who attend Activity Day with you should sign in and out using the visitor sign-in sheet. This includes your own children who don’t normally attend AD. There are also name tags in the visitor sign-in book that they should wear while in the building.
Everyone at Activity Day is encouraged to wear a name tag the first few weeks. Name tags will be provided at the information table and are preprinted with each person’s schedule. This helps everyone put names to faces more quickly, while learning their own schedule.
Storage
You may use both sets of coat racks in the hallways. Please store your lunch bags and backpacks on the floor below the coat racks. Do not leave anything in the café. Please collect all of your children's projects and belongings before leaving each week. Any class activities (papers, crafts, art projects, etc.) found at the end of the day will be discarded.
Lost and Found
Please make sure to pick up all your belongings, including items from your child’s classes (art projects, crafts, worksheets, etc.) before leaving AD. Any class items left behind may be discarded. There is a lost and found table located near the entrance for other belongings. The lost and found items will be kept for a few weeks and displayed on the table so that they can be claimed. Please check the lost and found regularly. Items not claimed will be donated to the Free Store or Goodwill. SHE is not liable for lost or unclaimed items.
Free Table
There is another table at the opposite end of the café where members may leave things that they would like to give away. Make sure that any items you bring are in a box or container that is clearly marked with your name and the word FREE. You must take any remaining items home when you leave for the day.
Fundraisers
SHE participates in fundraisers such as Box Tops and AmazonSmile to further offset expenses. If you would like to contribute to SHE through Box Tops, please download the app and select Sunbury Home Educators as your school. After each shopping trip with qualifying items, use the app to scan your receipt.
Class Cancellations
Teachers are allowed one cancellation per class each 12-week session. If a class is canceled by a teacher more than once in a session, it is the teacher’s responsibility to make up for the missed class outside of regular Activity Day hours. Teachers must notify parents of the cancellation and any plans for a make-up class.
Inclement Weather Policy
If the entire day of classes is canceled due to inclement weather or an unforeseen emergency, classes will not be made up unless individual teachers choose to do so. However, if a teacher does not choose to schedule a make-up class, that will count as their one cancellation for the 12-week session. If more than one day of classes are canceled, the session may be extended. Teachers will not be required to schedule make-up classes if the session cannot be extended. Please note that we do not follow the cancellation decisions of any particular local school. The Team will assess the conditions of each potential cancellation and notify all AD participants by email and text as soon as a decision is made.
